Yellow Drum Project X Kublai

The Yellow Drum Project came about during community quarantine, when we noticed the amount of biodegradable waste we generate at home. After some brainstorming, we decided to offer the service of collecting household biodegradable waste as the solution, our trucks were out and about already, and we could provide a service for homes that might wish to practice composting but did not have the space or the knowledge to do so. We envisioned the project as something akin to a monthly service where someone could be secure in the knowledge that they had paid to have their biodegradables collected and treated properly. And after a few cycles of collections they would be entitled to incentives in the form of the fertilizers and other garden products that we produce from the biodegradable waste.

About a year has passed since we began the project and while we are happy with our results so far, we believe that we can continue to do better, to make a greater positive impact on the environment by ensuring more biodegradable wastes are diverted from landfills. That is why we wished to partner with Kublai Millan’s project in the hopes that we would be able to reach even more people through art and to get them to think more deeply about what happens to the waste that they produce after it leaves their homes.

Check out our collaboration with Kublai in Mindanao Art’s visual art exhibit at Poblacion Market Central this October 2021.
